Write out the names of your characters and explain:
1) how you thought of their name.
2) what made you create the character in the first place.
3) how the character has changed over time (if they have changed).
4) any random fun fact about that character.

• Gideon Felix
  1) When I first drew Gideon he looked rather meek and I decided he need a strong name, somehow I picked Gideon probably for the harsh G sound at the beginning. His middle names (Elías Uriel) and last name are Spanish names; it has to do with his heritage (To put it bluntly he’s part Mexican). I used names from kids I met when tutoring for the ESL program at a local high school. Also, Felix means lucky which I thought would be properly ironic.
  2) I was looking at a picture, I can't remember what of, and the man in it looked like he had no arm. I thought "hot diggity, that's great" but somehow this translated into a dude with a skeleton arm. I'm not sure where his blood skills came from, but it was one of my better ideas.
  3) Like I said, Gids started out as a pathetic looking guy clutching a book to his chest. Somehow this contorted into him being (over)confident to the point of arrogance. He also had a shy streak which is gone simply because it was too bothersome for me to write about.
  4) He likes cinnamon; a lot. It's his favorite taste. Unfortunately he's sort of a health nut and doesn't eat things like cinnamon rolls, or cinnamon muffins. He enjoys chai tea and has a thing for redheads (his ex-fiancé can attest to that).



• Hira
  1) Hm, I think I wanted something that sounded like hero since I first created her to be a supporting character and her first act was to save the main character’s life. So I tweaked it to be Hera but that was Greek goddess-like and I made it Hira.
  2) I was sitting through a communications class several years ago and someone was wearing this really nice shirt. I drew a girl wearing the shirt and like the design, since I needed a supporting character for the story I was working on I decided she would do.
  3) Originally she was just this character who didn’t have much of a personality or a role to play in her story. However as the story progressed she surprised me by developing her own personality and she grew to be a playful, curious girl with a bit of a sarcastic streak. Also, she started acting kind of brave and I just liked how she was changing so she’s taken up a more prominent role in that story.
  4) Hira used to have a big crush on one her current pack brothers, but since she’s around 16 and he’s kind of 25 it was just a kind of puppy love. The pack she belongs to tends to dote on her since there’s a large age gap between her and the other members; she doesn’t mind this treatment at all.



• Darius
  1) I honestly don’t know how I came up with Darius’s name; I guess I just thought it sounded powerful and smooth.
  2) ~darkeyedfran and I used to draw this werewolf with a monocle, top hat , cane and bow tie. We called him the sophisticated lupine. Slowly he started to become a character, mainly just some guy who liked to hunt and was polite and stuff.
  3) He was never meant to be a villain, not to be a bad guy; just someone who hunted down the main character because of unfortunate circumstances. Then, due to watching too much Law & Order he became this rather strange psychopath. He still keeps his suave, gentlemanly looks though because it adds to the creepery of it all.
  4) Darius is a man(wolf) who struggles with control. He always needs to be in control of something, which in his case is an uncontrollable hatred towards everything. As a kid he was rather disturbed but as he grew he learned to control his obsessions, hatreds and jealousies. Now he takes the manipulation one step further and plays with other people.



• Tey
  1) I don’t even know how I came up with her name. I think I just liked the sound of it; short and simple. Not much insight into the subject for her.
  2) Tey is one of my older characters, her design has been following me for years so I don’t know why I came up with her.
  3) This is a question I can actually answer because it’s been chronicled in various sketchbooks. For the most part Tey’s design has stayed the same i.e. long black hair, pointed ears and blue eyes. Originally she had white bangs… I don’t even know why. Her personality started out as a “loner” and her character kind of faded away until I brought it back for another story in which she was a vampire, but she started out with a sunny disposition. This story split off and Tey was left without a home, gradually she started becoming a more depressed character, reverting to her loner status, though she did gain a pack so mainly she was just fearful and aggressive. Then I hit a really depressing time and she unfortunately got the worst of the character abuse turning her into some kind of broken, angsty person. However, she’s coming out of this phase and if I work more with her I can get rid of her bully aspects and portray her in a more favorable manner.
  4) Tey isn’t one to talk. It’s because when she was a child she used to stutter and slur her words and this was just another aspect other children used to torment her about. So she just quit talking. This didn’t stop her from listening to how people pronounced their words; she’s quite proficient in mimicking accents. She usually doesn’t speak unless she feels it’s needed or if she’s comfortable.



• Tempos
  1) I needed to think of time related names, but I didn’t want to use something like Kronos… for some reason… so I thought, “Temporal, Temporary…” and came up with Tempos.
  2) This guy literally walked up to me in a dream fully designed and with a personality as well. It was quite amazing.
  3) His design has stayed relatively the same, mainly a few tweaks to his outfit and the fact that I sheared off all his hair. As to his personality… well, he used to be this kind of enigmatic guy who was kind of nice but now he’s got this really dry (sometimes morbid) sense of humor and a tendency to brood. He did manage to develop a nice, convoluted history that explains his personality and design quirks though. Yay!
  4) Tempos is a vegetarian and you’d be hard pressed to get him to even consider eating meat. This stems from the fact that he is what he eats, or subsumes rather. Technically he doesn’t need to eat and only does so either out of politeness or to escape awkward moments. His body actually runs on ~magical spirit energy~. People think he’s anorexic though.
